Today, the main focus is on the surface treatment galvanizing process of stainless steel products.
The purpose of galvanization is to prevent corrosion on steel like steel drum parts. Steel is susceptible to corrosion in the natural atmosphere. Zinc, on the other hand, is resistant to changes in dry air and forms a dense layer of zinc carbonate protective film on the surface in humid environments, effectively protecting steel.
Galvanized steel refers to ordinary carbon structural steel that has been processed through galvanizing, which effectively prevents corrosion and extends the service life of the steel. The galvanization process includes electroplating galvanization and hot-dip galvanization. It is commonly used in building exteriors or for outdoor structures such as telecommunications towers and highways, known as galvanized steel.
There are generally three types of galvanization processes and methods: mechanical galvanization, hot-dip galvanization, and cold galvanization.
Mechanical galvanization
Mechanical galvanization is a more traditional galvanization process. Zinc powder is attached to the workpiece through mechanical collision and chemical adsorption to form a coating.
Hot-dip galvanization
Hot-dip galvanization, also known as hot-dip zinc coating, involves acid cleaning the workpiece to remove the oxide layer on the surface, providing conditions for firm adhesion of the coating. Ammonium chloride or zinc chloride assist in cleaning to further remove impurities on the surface. The workpiece is then immersed in a hot-dip zinc bath to allow the zinc solution to uniformly and tightly adhere to the workpiece, forming a coating.
Cold galvanization
Cold galvanization, also known as electroplating galvanization, involves removing surface oil, dust, acid cleaning, and cleaning to remove impurities on the workpiece's surface. The workpiece is then placed in a zinc salt solution, with a zinc plate placed opposite the workpiece. The workpiece is connected to the negative pole of the electrolysis device, and the zinc plate is connected to the positive pole. The power supply is turned on, and the electrolytic reaction leads to the deposition of the zinc layer on the workpiece.
As new technologies continue to mature, mechanical galvanization has been phased out, and the commonly used processes are hot-dip galvanization and cold galvanization.
